As normally happens during this time of the year, the anxiety of taking part on the Inca Trail Hike and being able to secure an Inca Trail Permit for next year's Machu Picchu 2009 trekking season is generated. The National Institute of Culture in Cusco, Peru, keeps the way it has been working for the past years.
As you could see on the Inca Trail Permits Availability page, only information until Januay 2009 is displayed. The trail is closed in the month of February. No Inca Trail Permit Availability information for March 2009 to January 2010 is published nor Inca Trail Permits can be bought for this 2009 season until all Inca Trail Operators pass the strict qualification and renewal of their licences in order to operate the Inca Trail, this process is conducted by the Peruvian government agency: INRENA.
As soon as the process is complete, a set of new norms and regulations for next year's Inca Trail and the procedure to reserve and secure Inca Trail Permits is provided to us. Inca Trail Reservations mantains a constant contact with the National Institute of Culture (INC), to be alert for new announcements, new regulations and specific information about next year's trekking season.
As normally happens, we will be one of the firsts in line when the INC starts issuing permits. As of today
